How to get to Barcelona for The Best of Barcelona Tour

This program is a customized tour for 2 or more, based in Barcelona – the trip starts and ends at your downtown luxury hotel.

You will not need (or want) a car in Barcelona – we provide transportation on a drive that takes in some highpoints and views and we’ll whisk you by taxi to the old city at the beginning of our walk there; the rest of our neighborhood, market, and tapas tours are on foot. This is a walk-able city, although for those who prefer or need to ride, rest assured it is easy to get taxis around town.

While we are happy to arrange a private driver transfer from the airport or train station for you (for an additional fee), but we have found that taxis are perfectly practical, reasonable, and there whenever you arrive. The airport is about 25 minutes from the center of the city (about 25 Euros) and the main train stations are very central too.

Enrolled participants receive background information about Barcelona including details about your hotel and your guide who will meet you there.

The Closest Airport

The Barcelona Airport has direct flights from the US, again, it is about a 20-30 minute (25 Euro) taxi ride from the airport into downtown Barcelona.

If you’re planning to fly to Barcelona via from another European city, be sure the carrier flies directly to Barcelona. Some European airlines fly to Girona instead, about an hour’s drive away and not so convenient for a short stay in Barcelona

By Train

Barcelona is well connected to other Spanish and European cities by rail. Longer-range trains – including the new AVE high speed train (imagine Madrid in under 3 hours!) pull into Sants-Estació, the main station, where taxis are plentiful. Sants is also a Metro subway station. Some trains also stop underground at Passeig de Gràcia, a small but even more centrally located station connected to the Metro; taxis are easy to find at street level.

Information in English about train schedules and rates for travel around Spain is available from RENFE, the Spanish railway.

Car Rentals

You will not need (or want) a car during your time in Barcelona. If this tour is part of a larger driving trip for you, let us know and we will provide you with driving directions for reaching your hotel. We’ll also recommend garages for parking while you are in the city.

If you are interested in renting a car for touring the region before or after your Barcelona experience, let us know and we can arrange it for you. We can also arrange private transportation from Barcelona through the region. (But please note, these are arrangements are not included in the tour price.)
