Plus, don't miss Barcelona: If you haven’t yet gotten to know Spain's most creative city, consider a short-but-sweet stay before or after your villa experience. Here in the coastal Empordà region of Catalonia, fresh ingredients come from terraced olive groves, rice paddies, kitchen gardens, small farms, and the sea. It’s a beautiful place to taste, cook, explore, and just revel in the luxury of being in a gorgeous country villa.
Adventurous types will be astounded by all there is to do in this region: visit the historic city of Girona; stroll ancient hill towns; explore Roman ruins; learn about local cheeses; shop the low-key beach resorts of the Costa Brava; delve into Dalí.

But let's start with everything a food-lover needs, shall we? Your stay begins with a sampling of local Cava, and the chef's tasting menu––a delicious introduction to the region's cuisine. You'll also have a private cooking class (followed by lunch). And winery visits to sample some scrumptious undiscovered wines.

For this trip, you'll want to rent a car in Barcelona—your villa home base is just a little over one hour away, and you'll need wheels for exploring the area. We provide advice on renting, plus maps, and detailed route plans. If you’d rather book a private driver, we can help you do that instead.
